Method
Source to compare

Your text is neither published nor stored. In web search, only a few sentences are sent to the search engine.

How it works

  1. 1Paste the text to check.
  2. 2Compare it with a specific source (text or link), or run the web search when available.
  3. 3Review the highlighted shared passages, the similarity rate and the sources.

Good to know

  • The comparison detects verbatim reuse (at least 8 identical words in a row); deep rephrasing is not detected.
  • The web search queries a search engine with the most distinctive sentences: its coverage is limited to indexed, accessible pages. An empty result doesn't prove originality.
  • The similarity rate is a comparison indicator, not proof of plagiarism: a properly attributed quote is legitimate.

What it's for

Check a delivered text

Make sure an article delivered by a writer doesn't copy an existing page.

Quote correctly

Spot passages too close to a source to rephrase or quote them.

Compare two versions

Measure what two texts have in common.

Frequently asked questions

How does the comparison work?

Both texts are normalized, then compared by word sequences. Every passage of at least 8 words found identically is highlighted.

Can I compare with a web page?

Yes: paste the page link as the source, Ydeora fetches its text and compares it with yours.

Is my text indexed anywhere?

No. It is neither published nor stored; in web search, only a few sentences are sent to the search engine.
